That's what it sounds like, as EA has announced that they have bought BioWare and Pandemic Studios. It seems alot of development teams have been switching ownerships and such these past few weeks, with this and the buying of Bizarre Creations (makers of the Project Gotham Racing series) by Activision and Bungie becoming its own company apart from Microsoft. But I believe I express the opinions of many gamers on this subject when I say, "As long as the games keep coming, all's good."
BioWare is the developer of the Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights series and the seemingly highly anticipated Mass Effect (which readers of the blog know I'm not that interested in).
Pandemic Studios developed the Mercenaries, Destroy All Humans! and Star Wars: Battle Front series (I'm a Star Wars: Battle Front II fan, but not obsessed).
It makes sense for EA to buy both teams, as they are a package deal. So in case anyone was wondering why both were bought, it's because BioWare and Pandemic Studios are merged. They kept their identity, but they teamed up in November of 2005, funded by Elevation Partners.
Let's hope that both BioWare and Pandemic both benefit from this transaction. Because when they do, we get games.
I'm going to go play some Halo 3 so take care and have fun gaming,
