Gaming News

This "era" of gaming history has experienced some very "far-fetched" news stories. Peter Moore leaving Microsoft, and the threat of Bungie and Microsoft breaking up their profitable alliance, for example. I think it's because gaming is becoming more and more accepted as a form of entertainment. 10 years ago it was only the geeks that would run over to the arcade to play Donkey Kong, or House of the Dead. Now, in the 7th generation of console gaming, hardly anyone hasn't played SOME form of gaming. It's taking its place beside books, movies and music. It's even reached a wax museum (A 7'2" tall statue of Master Chief was added to Madame Tussaud's wax museum in Las Vegas. That place is for celebrities only, so that's saying something for Halo). It's like a force that's gone ignored for ages and now is revealing itself as a super-power; a multi-billion dollar industry that affects the world more than people know or admit.

A few quick updates:

There's been alot of talk about how Bungie and Microsoft were breaking ties, and it shocked me at first, but it has now been confirmed that this will not happen and Bungie will continue to develope exclusively for the Xbox 360 console (they will, however, expand their staff so they can develop multiple games at a time). I'm not trying to sound like the know-it-all, but I had a feeling they wouldn't go through with it. Bungie needs the financial support of Microsoft, and Microsoft needs Xbox 360 sales, point finish. Alot more people have Xbox 360s now because of Halo 3's release. Speaking of which, the Xbox 360 is now out-selling the Wii. Applause for Microsoft.

It turns out Bungie IS developing a new Halo title, NOT Halo 4, as I guessed in a previous post. There's alot of "static" on what this title is going to be, but we have the fact that the Halo series is not dead confirmed. And I'm glad. Halo Wars looks good too, I'll definitly be picking that up soon.

So that's a quick summarized and to-the-point update on the gaming industry's latest news, as far as Microsoft is concerned. I've been getting alot of feedback about how my posts are too long, and I agree, I should make less intimidating posts, so sorry about that and I'll try to keep it to a short novel, like today's post or shorter. Thanks to all my readers (few, but still readers) and have fun gaming.
